The Dzogchen Beara Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Center just up the road has a cafe and peaceful hiking trails along the ocean.

Don't miss the traditional Irish music on Sunday nights, seafood and the best homemade pizza at O’Neill’s Bar & Restaurant in Allihies.  

The Copper Cafe in Allihies has delicious food and their patio is a perfect spot for a wonderful lunch. 

The Lehanmore Community Center has traditional music sessions on Tuesday nights and the bar is usually open on Friday nights.

In Castletownbere, stop in at  MacCarthy’s Bar for a pint or coffee & breakfast at Sugrues on the square.  Another favorite is Murphy's Restaurant.

Castletownbere also has market day on Thursdays with merchandise, vegetables, fresh flowers & fish for sale in the town square. 

The Beara Peninsula is rich in historical and archaeological sites.  The area is full of wedge tombs, stone circles, ogham stones and Martello towers. 

The Lehanmore Ringed Fort is across the road.  Allihies is home of the abandoned Allihies Copper Mine and the Allihies Copper Mine Museum with a cafe & art gallery.  

Near Castletownbere, you can explore the Derreenataggart Stone Circle, as well as the Puxley Mansion/Dunboy Castle.  Not far from the village of Eyeries is the Ballycrovane Ogham Stone (the largest in the world). 

Healy pass is one of the most scenic mountain roads in Ireland.  

Take a unique ride on the Dursey Island Cable Car for an easy hike around Dursey Island for an afternoon of bird, seal, dolphin and whale watching.  

The hiking trails on the Beara Peninsula are marked and vary in difficultly.  The trails near the house provide some of the most spectacular views!  

The Garinish Loop, Firkeel Gap and the Beara Way trail over the peninsula starting from the Lehanmore Community Center to the Village of Allihies have a few challenging parts, but are well worth the effort.

The short drive to Gleninchaquin Park is highly recommended.  The hike around the waterfall is very impressive.
